Amanda McLaurin
After a successful career as an event planner, Amanda relocated to Semarang, Indonesia in 2015 seeking a more creative career path. While living there she spent every available weekend exploring villages specializing in traditional Indonesian textiles and handicraft. Inspired by the craftsmanship in Java, she returned to the US eager to build her art practice and began teaching fiber workshops.
With a desire to create pieces that were both fiber based and sculptural, she began wrapping wood panels with wool and mercerized cotton. She loves exploring unexpected color stories and gathers inspiration from vintage quilt squares which are mimicked in the patterns of her color blocks. Amanda is based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
